Wofford at Northern Kentucky
HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. (Interstat) — Two teams riding high off dominant offensive performances will meet Wednesday when the Wofford Terriers visit the Northern Kentucky Norse at BB&T Arena.
Wofford (4-2) enters the non-conference matchup on a three-game winning streak, most recently routing Erskine 81-57 on Friday. The Terriers have shown a potent attack during their streak, averaging 87 points per game in those victories. Brian Sumpter (11 points) and Jayden Tyler (13 points) were key contributors in the win over Erskine.
Northern Kentucky (3-2) is also coming off a blowout victory, having dismantled Central Michigan 90-66 on the road last Thursday. The Norse offense was firing on all cylinders, led by Donovan Oday’s 20-point performance. LJ Wells added 13 points and five assists, while Kael Robinson chipped in 17 points.
Both teams have faced early tests. Wofford’s two losses came against power-conference opponent Auburn and a tough George Mason squad. Northern Kentucky’s defeats were against Tennessee and East Tennessee State, with the loss to the Volunteers a 95-56 decision.
The game will be a final tune-up for both squads before each embarks on a busy stretch of games this weekend. Wofford travels to face Eastern Kentucky on Saturday, while Northern Kentucky hosts Boston University.
