Hampton at Norfolk State
NORFOLK, Va. (Interstat) — Two local rivals seeking momentum will meet Friday when the Hampton Pirates visit the Norfolk State Spartans in a non-conference men’s basketball game at Echols Hall.
Both teams enter the contest with 2-win records and recent struggles. Hampton (2-4) is looking to rebound from a 52-63 road loss at Boston College this past Tuesday. Daniel Johnson and Xzavier Long each scored 11 points in the defeat. The Pirates’ two victories this season came against Brown and Mid-Atlantic Christian.
Norfolk State (2-3) last played on Nov. 14, falling 41-51 at Towson. In that game, Jaquel Morris, Elijah Jamison and Devon Ellis each contributed eight or fewer points. The Spartans’ wins have come against non-Division I opponents Regent and Washington Adventist, while they have suffered narrow losses to Old Dominion and William & Mary.
The intrastate matchup offers both squads a chance to steady their seasons before embarking on difficult stretches. Following this game, Norfolk State faces a daunting road trip with games at Wyoming and Arizona. Hampton will continue its road-heavy early schedule with a game at Maryland-Eastern Shore on Tuesday.
Tipoff is set for Friday, Nov. 21, 2025, on the campus of Norfolk State University.
