Denver at Colorado State

FORT COLLINS, Colo. (Interstat) — An in-state rivalry tips off Friday afternoon at Moby Arena as the undefeated Colorado State Rams host the struggling Denver Pioneers in a non-conference men’s basketball matchup.

The Rams (4-0) have started the season strong, averaging 92 points per game and winning each contest by at least 15 points. Their most recent victory was an 80-67 road win over Loyola Chicago on Sunday, paced by 15 points each from Kyle Jorgensen and Brandon Rechsteiner, along with 11 points and nine rebounds from Carey Booth.

Conversely, the Pioneers (1-3) are looking to rebound from an 84-79 home loss to Texas-San Antonio last Saturday. Despite the defeat, Denver’s backcourt of Carson Johnson and Jeremiah Burke has been potent. Johnson scored 29 points in the loss, while Burke added 23. Their sole win this season came in a 75-73 victory at Montana State on Nov. 9.

The game marks the start of a challenging stretch for both teams. Following this contest, Denver travels to face Arizona, while Colorado State prepares for a neutral-site game against Virginia Tech in The Bahamas. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. MST.
