Loyola Maryland at Kentucky
LEXINGTON, Ky. (Interstat) — The Kentucky Wildcats look to rebound from a tough loss when they host the Loyola Maryland Greyhounds in a non-conference men’s basketball game Friday at Rupp Arena.
Kentucky (3-2) is coming off an 83-66 home loss to Michigan State on Tuesday. Otega Oweh led the Wildcats with 12 points in the defeat. The Wildcats have shown a high-powered offense this season, scoring 99 and 107 points in blowout wins over Eastern Illinois and Valparaiso, but have stumbled against power-conference opponents, including a loss at Louisville.
Loyola Maryland (2-4) enters on a two-game skid, most recently falling 92-78 at Duquesne on Wednesday. Jacob Theodosiou scored 21 points in that contest for the Greyhounds, who have yet to win a road game this season, with all four losses coming away from home.
The matchup presents a stark contrast in competition levels. Kentucky’s upcoming schedule features high-profile games against North Carolina and Gonzaga, while Loyola Maryland’s next opponent is Division III Washington College.
Friday’s game is the first-ever meeting between the programs. It is scheduled for a 7 p.m. EST tipoff.
