Morehead State at East Tennessee State
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Interstat) — The East Tennessee State Buccaneers, off to a strong 3-1 start, will host the Morehead State Eagles at the ETSU Athletic Center on Friday.
The Buccaneers are coming off a 78-74 road victory over North Alabama on Saturday. In that game, Jaylen Smith led the way with 14 points and six assists, while Jordan McCullum added 11 points and four rebounds.
Morehead State (2-3) enters the contest with momentum after a dominant 121-51 win over Ky. Christian on Sunday. George Marshall scored 20 points, and Chase Dawson dished out seven assists to go with 19 points in the rout.
However, the Eagles have struggled against higher-level competition, suffering double-digit road losses to Clemson, Georgia and Wake Forest earlier this month. Their performance away from home will be tested against an ETSU team that has won both of its home games this season.
The Buccaneers’ only blemish was a 68-64 road loss to Presbyterian on Nov. 8.
Friday’s game is the first of a two-game swing in Johnson City for Morehead State, which will face Louisiana-Monroe at the same venue on Saturday. ETSU will also host Louisiana-Monroe on Sunday.
