Navy at North Carolina
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (Interstat) — The undefeated and fourth-ranked North Carolina Tar Heels (4-0) will host the Navy Midshipmen (2-2) in a nonconference men’s basketball game Tuesday at the Dean Smith Center.
North Carolina, coming off a 97-53 rout of North Carolina Central on Friday, has won its first four games by an average of 24.5 points. In that victory, Caleb Wilson posted 21 points and 13 rebounds, while Henri Veesaar added 12 points and 11 rebounds. The Tar Heels’ early-season resume includes an 87-74 win over then-Kansas.
Navy arrives after a 97-64 win over Washington Col. on Friday. Donovan Draper led the way with 13 points, nine rebounds and six assists, and Aidan Kehoe scored a team-high 20 points with nine rebounds. The Midshipmen have split their first four games, with a 71-80 loss at Penn State preceding their most recent victory.
The game marks the first meeting between the programs since 1991. Navy will look to contain a potent Tar Heels offense that has surpassed 87 points in three of its four contests. North Carolina’s defense, which has held opponents to an average of 65.5 points, will be tested by a Navy team that scored 97 in its last outing.
Following this game, North Carolina will travel to Florida for a multi-team event, while Navy will host NJIT on Saturday.
