Alabama State at Alabama A&M
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (Interstat) — A surging Alabama A&M looks to complete a regular-season sweep of rival Alabama State when the Bulldogs host the Hornets in a SWAC men’s basketball game Saturday at T.M. Elmore Gymnasium.
The Bulldogs (16-12) enter with a winning record and have won five of their last eight games. They will be heavily favored against the struggling Hornets (9-18), who have lost three straight and eight of their last ten.
Alabama A&M won the first meeting this season, 73-69, in Montgomery on Jan. 19. In that game, the Bulldogs withstood a late Hornets rally to secure the road victory.
A key player to watch for the home team is guard Koron Davis, who is coming off a 28-point performance in an 85-76 loss at Bethune-Cookman last Saturday. Davis has scored 20 or more points in four of his last eight outings, providing consistent offensive firepower for the Bulldogs.
For Alabama State, guard Cam Palesse will be a focal point. He logged 33 minutes and led the team with 12 points and four assists in last Saturday’s 76-63 loss at Florida A&M. Palesse has shown flashes of high production, including a 14-point game in a win over Florida A&M on Feb. 2, but the Hornets have struggled to find consistent scoring support.
The matchup pits one of the SWAC’s more efficient offenses in Alabama A&M against an Alabama State team that has faced defensive challenges during its recent skid. The Bulldogs have averaged 72.3 points per game over their last seven contests.
With the SWAC tournament approaching, Alabama A&M aims to solidify its seeding, while Alabama State seeks a momentum-shifting upset to reverse its late-season fortunes. Tipoff is set for Saturday, Feb. 28, 2026.
