Howard at Morgan State
BALTIMORE (Interstat) — A surging Howard squad looks to avenge its most painful loss of the season when it visits rival Morgan State in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference men’s basketball showdown Saturday at Hill Field House.
The Bison (18-10, 11-2 MEAC), winners of seven of their last eight, enter February 28, 2026, atop the conference standings. Their only blemish since late January was a 78-77 home loss to these same Bears on Jan. 24, a result that undoubtedly fuels this rematch.
Howard arrives riding high from a 100-67 demolition of North Carolina Central last Saturday, a game in which Travelle Bryson scored 22 points with eight rebounds. The versatile forward has been a key catalyst, averaging 14.3 points over his last six appearances. He is supported by a balanced attack featuring Cedric Taylor (21 points, six assists, four blocks vs. NCCU) and Bryce Harris (17 points, six assists).
Morgan State (12-14, 7-5), however, has found its rhythm, winning four of its last five. The Bears are powered by the hot hand of guard Alfred Worrell, who is averaging 23.8 points over his last five outings. He dropped 25 points in a win over Delaware State and 23 in Wednesday’s 90-83 victory at South Carolina State.
The Bears’ January win in Washington, D.C., proved they can upset the conference frontrunner. Replicating that at home would significantly bolster their conference tournament seeding.
Howard’s recent dominance — including wins of 32, 28, and 33 points in its last three games — contrasts with Morgan State’s streak of closer contests. The Bison’s defense has been stifling, but containing Worrell’s scoring burst will be their primary challenge.
Saturday’s contest is the regular-season finale for both teams before the MEAC tournament. A Howard win secures the outright regular-season title, while a Morgan State victory creates potential for a share of the crown, depending on other results, and provides a massive momentum swing heading into March.
