Akron Pulls Away From Buffalo in Second Half for MAC Victory

AKRON, Ohio (Interstat) — Akron used a dominant second-half performance to defeat Buffalo 99-85 in a Mid-American Conference men’s basketball game Tuesday night at James A. Rhodes Arena.

The Zips, leading 39-35 at halftime, outscored the Bulls 60-50 after intermission to secure the win before a crowd of 2,323. The victory improved Akron’s record to 21-5 overall, while Buffalo fell to 16-11.

The game was a rematch of a Jan. 20 contest also won by Akron. The Zips’ offense proved too potent, consistently answering any Buffalo rally. The total score surpassed the pregame over/under line. Akron entered the game as a heavy favorite according to betting markets and statistical projections.
