Long Beach State at Portland

PORTLAND, Ore. (Interstat) — The Portland Pilots look to get back on track when they host the struggling Long Beach State 49ers in a non-conference men’s basketball game Wednesday at the Chiles Center.

Portland (4-3) returns home after a difficult 76-66 loss to Saint Thomas (Minn.) on Sunday. Timo George led the Pilots with 17 points in that contest, while Joel Foxwell added 11 points and eight assists. The Pilots’ offense has shown flashes, including a 103-point performance in a win over Cal State Fullerton on Nov. 21, but consistency has been an issue.

Long Beach State (1-5) arrives in the Pacific Northwest seeking its first win against a Division I opponent this season. The 49ers are coming off a 78-72 home loss to Montana State on Friday. Despite the defeat, Gavin Sykes turned in a strong performance, scoring 24 points. Shaquil Bender added 17 points for Long Beach State, which has lost five straight since a season-opening 87-54 victory over Nobel.

The game represents a chance for Portland to solidify its record before a tough road test at Stanford. For Long Beach State, it is another opportunity to break through after several close calls, including a two-point loss to Illinois State on Nov. 16.

Tipoff is set for Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2025.
