North Carolina A&T at Morgan State

BALTIMORE (Interstat) — Lewis Walker scored 24 points and Will Felton added 15 points off the bench as North Carolina A&T held off a second-half push from Morgan State to secure a 79-73 victory in a men’s NCAA Division I basketball game Tuesday night at Hill Field House.

The Aggies improved to 3-1 on the season, while the Bears fell to 1-4.

North Carolina A&T built a 45-38 halftime lead behind efficient shooting, connecting on 52% of their field goal attempts in the opening period. The Aggies maintained that advantage throughout the second half, despite Morgan State’s efforts to close the gap on multiple occasions.

Walker, a 6-foot-6 junior from Winston-Salem, North Carolina, was instrumental in the win, playing 40 minutes and adding three assists. His backcourt mate, Trent Middleton, contributed 13 points. Felton, a 6-foot-8 forward from Raleigh, North Carolina, provided a significant spark in just 17 minutes of action.

Morgan State was led by a game-high 21 points from Elijah Davis. The 6-foot-1 guard from Severn, Maryland, also dished out seven assists. Rob Lawson added 12 points and five assists for the Bears, while Alfred Worrell chipped in 13 points.

The game was ultimately decided at the free-throw line and by ball security. North Carolina A&T capitalized on its opportunities, making 21 of 27 free throws. Morgan State, meanwhile, attempted only 17 free throws, making 12.

North Carolina A&T also struggled with turnovers, committing 14 compared to just five by Morgan State. The Bears converted those miscues into 11 points. However, the Aggies’ superior shooting efficiency — 52% from the field to Morgan State’s 45.2% — and a 7-4 advantage in offensive rebounds helped offset their ball-handling issues.

Defensively, North Carolina A&T’s Amadou Doumbia, a 6-foot-11 center from Bamako, Mali, made his presence felt with two blocked shots.

The announced attendance was 2,496.

North Carolina A&T will next travel to face Davidson on Friday, Nov. 28. Morgan State looks to rebound on the road at Old Dominion on Friday, Nov. 21.
