Duke at Army
WEST POINT, N.Y. (Interstat) — In a dominant display of offensive firepower, the Duke Blue Devils overwhelmed the Army Black Knights 114-59 in a non-conference men’s basketball game Tuesday night at a sold-out Christl Arena.
The Blue Devils, improving to 3-0, left little doubt from the opening tip, using a barrage of three-pointers and a relentless transition game to build a 49-30 halftime lead before exploding for 65 points in the second half. The Black Knights fell to 1-2 with the loss.
Duke’s offensive efficiency was staggering. The team shot 57 percent from the field, connecting on 16 of 37 attempts from beyond the arc. They were also potent from the free-throw line, making 24 of 29 attempts. Defensively, Duke forced 14 Army turnovers, converting them into 26 points, and held a massive 31-6 advantage in fastbreak points.
The Blue Devils’ attack was balanced and potent, with six players scoring in double figures. Dame Sarr led all scorers with 19 points, while Cameron Boozer added 15 points and four assists. Patrick Ngongba controlled the paint with 16 points and Isaiah Evans chipped in 17 points. Cayden Boozer facilitated the offense with a team-high eight assists, and Darren Harris came off the bench to score 15 points, all from three-point range.
Army, by contrast, struggled to find any consistent offensive rhythm. The Black Knights shot just 31 percent from the field and 24 percent from three-point range. Jackson Furman provided a bright spot, scoring 20 points to lead the home team, but it was not nearly enough to keep pace with the Blue Devils’ onslaught.
The game was effectively decided in the first 10 minutes as Duke’s length and athleticism created problems for Army on both ends of the floor. A 16-2 run midway through the first half, fueled by three-pointers from Sarr and Evans, stretched an early lead to 20 points and the margin only grew from there.
The victory extends Duke’s strong start to the season, following decisive wins over Texas and Western Carolina. The Blue Devils will look to continue their momentum when they host Indiana State on Friday. Army will aim to regroup as they prepare to host Harvard on Saturday. An announced crowd of 5,326 watched the contest.
