YEKATERINBURG, Russia (Interstat) — A quick rematch between two of the Kontinental Hockey League’s top teams is set for Friday as Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg hosts Avangard Omsk at KRK Uralets.

The matchup comes just four days after Avtomobilist (9-5) handed Avangard (9-3) one of its few losses this season, a 4-1 defeat in Omsk on Monday. That victory extended Avtomobilist’s winning streak to three games, which was followed by a 2-1 overtime win against SKA Saint Petersburg on Wednesday. Goaltender Evgeny Alikin stopped 29 of 30 shots in that victory.

Avangard, which boasts the league’s best record, saw a two-game winning streak snapped in Monday’s loss. Forward Nikolai Prokhorkin scored the lone goal for Avangard in that contest.

Both teams are navigating a heavy early-season schedule. Following Friday’s game, Avangard begins a three-game road trip, while Avtomobilist embarks on a four-game trip of its own. The teams will meet again in Omsk on Oct. 19.
