Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg at Avangard Omsk

BALASHIKHA, Russia (Interstat) — The Kontinental Hockey League’s hottest team, Avangard Omsk, looks to continue its dominant start when it hosts a surging Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg on Monday at Balashikha Arena.

Avangard (9-2-0) enters the contest riding a three-game winning streak, having outscored opponents 15-3 in that span. Goaltender Nikita Serebryakov backstopped a 4-1 victory over Lokomotiv Yaroslavl on Friday, making 24 saves. Forwards Nikolai Prokhorkin and Dmitry Rashevsky each scored in the win.

The visiting Avtomobilist (7-5-0) has found its form, winning three of its last four games. The club is coming off a decisive 5-2 road victory against Neftekhimik Nizhnekamsk on Saturday. Defenseman Dmitry Yudin led the charge with a goal and an assist, while forwards Stepan Khripunov and Danil Romantsev also found the net.

The matchup pits Avangard’s potent offense, which has scored five or more goals in five games this season, against an Avtomobilist squad that has shown it can score in bunches on the road. The teams are set for a quick rematch in Yekaterinburg on Friday.
