Dinamo Minsk at Lada Togliatti

TOLYATTI, Russia (Interstat) — Stanislav Galiyev scored twice and added an assist as Dinamo Minsk erupted for five third-period goals to rout Lada 8-3 in a Kontinental Hockey League game Thursday afternoon at Lada Arena.

The visitors turned a tight contest into a blowout with a relentless offensive display in the final frame, scoring four times in a span of just over two minutes to seal the victory. The eight goals marked a season high for Dinamo Minsk.

Lada, despite being heavily outshot and outplayed for long stretches, kept the game competitive through two periods. The home side opened the scoring at 12:34 of the first when defenseman Arsen Taimazov beat the goaltender, assisted by Nikita Setdikov. Dinamo Minsk answered just over five minutes later as defenseman Robert Hamilton netted his fifth of the season.

The second period saw the teams trade goals. Dinamo Minsk defenseman Nicolas Meloche scored at 5:16 of the period to give his team a 2-1 lead, but Lada’s Dmitry Kugryshev responded on the power play just over four minutes later to tie the game. Veteran forward Vadim Shipachyov restored Dinamo Minsk’s lead at 14:01, only for Setdikov to knot the game again for Lada at 3-3 just 30 seconds later.

The third period belonged entirely to Dinamo Minsk. Alex Limoges broke the tie at 1:41, sparking the offensive deluge. Vitaly Pinchuk made it 5-3 at 5:29. Then, with Lada taking consecutive penalties, the floodgates opened.

Defenseman Darren Dietz scored on the two-man advantage at 11:13. Just 22 seconds later, Galiyev netted his first of the night. He completed his multi-goal game at 13:02, finishing a play from Dietz and Shipachyov to cap the scoring.

Sam Anas orchestrated much of the offense for Dinamo Minsk, registering four assists. Shipachyov finished with a goal and three assists, while Limoges had a goal and two helpers. Dietz and Hamilton each had a goal and an assist from the blue line.

The win improved Dinamo Minsk’s record to 28-20-1, solidifying its position in the Western Conference playoff race. Lada’s difficult season continued, falling to 15-38-0. The result flipped the script from the teams’ last meeting in Tolyatti on Nov. 8, when Lada earned a 1-0 shutout victory.

Dinamo Minsk goaltender Alexei Kolosov made 24 saves for the win. Lada’s Ivan Bocharov and Alexander Lazushin combined for 36 saves in the loss.

The game was a stark deviation from statistical projections. Interstat’s game simulator had predicted a 2-1 Dinamo Minsk victory, with its ELO rating system giving the visitors a 72.8% probability to win.

Dinamo Minsk continues its road trip with a game at Severstal Cherepovets on Tuesday. Lada’s next contest is at home against Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod, also on Tuesday.
