Sibir Novosibirsk at Barys Astana
ASTANA, Kazakhstan (Interstat) — Two struggling KHL clubs seeking consistency will meet Tuesday when Barys Astana hosts Sibir Novosibirsk at Barys Arena.
The matchup is the third of the season between the teams, with the series split 1-1. Barys (5-9) earned a 6-4 home win over Sibir on Sept. 27, while Sibir (6-7) responded with a 1-0 shootout victory on Oct. 5 in Novosibirsk.
Sibir enters on a higher note, coming off a 3-2 shootout win against Neftekhimik on Sunday. Forwards Arkhip Nekolenko and Vladimir Butuzov each scored a goal in the victory, with defenseman Yegor Alanov adding two assists.
Barys looks to rebound from a 5-3 home loss to Torpedo on Sunday. Despite the defeat, defenseman Reilly Walsh had a strong performance, registering a goal and an assist, while forward Kirill Panyukov also scored.
Both teams have found wins hard to come by this season. The game offers a crucial opportunity for either club to build momentum before facing a difficult stretch in their schedules. Barys will host Avangard Omsk on Thursday, while Sibir returns home to face Ak Bars Kazan the same day.
