Red Star Kunlun at Dynamo Moscow

MOSCOW (Interstat) — The Shanghai Dragons, riding the momentum of a shutout victory, visit Dynamo Moscow on Wednesday in a Kontinental Hockey League matchup at VTB Ice Palace.

Shanghai (3-3-0) arrives after a 1-0 overtime win against Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod on Monday. Goaltender Patrik Rybar stopped all 25 shots he faced for the victory, while forward Nick Merkley scored the game-winning goal. The Dragons have shown offensive firepower this season, including a seven-goal outburst in their opener, but have been inconsistent, alternating wins and losses through their first six games.

Dynamo Moscow (3-4-0) is also looking to build on a win, having defeated Amur Khabarovsk 3-1 on Monday. Goaltender Maxim Motorygin made 26 saves in the victory, with forwards Maxime Comtois and Devin Brosseau each contributing a goal. The home team has struggled defensively at times, allowing four or more goals in three of its losses.

The game is the first of four scheduled meetings between the clubs this season, with a home-and-home series in Shanghai set for mid-October. Wednesday’s contest continues a lengthy road trip for the Dragons, who will face Lada Togliatti on Friday. Dynamo’s next game is at home against Neftekhimik Nizhnekamsk on Monday.

Puck drop is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. local time.
