Samsung at Doosan
SEOUL, South Korea (Interstat) — The Samsung Lions visit the Doosan Bears on Sunday evening at Jamsil Stadium, looking to build on their recent dominance in the season series. First pitch is scheduled under a forecast of 83 degrees and rain.
Samsung (57-34-2) holds the best record in the KBO and has won five of its last six meetings against Doosan, including lopsided victories Friday (15-4) and Saturday (4-1). The Lions have outscored the Bears 19-5 in those two contests.
Right-hander Won Tae-in is expected to start for Samsung. He earned the win in Saturday’s 4-1 decision, allowing one earned run on six hits over six innings with four strikeouts. In his last four outings, Won is 3-1 with a 5.14 ERA, though he has been effective against Doosan.
Doosan (47-44-2) counters with left-hander Zach Logue, who took the loss Saturday. He gave up four earned runs on six hits over six innings with four strikeouts. Logue has struggled recently, posting a 6.75 ERA over his last three starts.
The Bears have lost four of their last five games and slipped to fourth place. They won the season series against Samsung in late April and early May, taking two of three in both series, but the Lions have seized momentum since.
Interstat’s game simulator projects a 6-4 victory for Samsung, and the ELO system gives the Lions a 58.70 percent probability of winning.
After Sunday, Samsung returns home to face the Kia Tigers in a three-game series starting Tuesday. Doosan travels to face the Shinsegae Landers for three games beginning Tuesday.
