KT at Lotte

BUSAN, South Korea (Interstat) — The KT Wiz take on the Lotte Giants on Saturday evening at Busan Sajik Baseball Stadium, aiming to build on a narrow victory in the series opener.

First-place KT (52-35-2) enters the 7 p.m. matchup with the league’s best record, while Lotte (40-50-1) sits near the bottom of the standings. The forecast calls for clear skies and 82 degrees at first pitch.

The Wiz won Friday’s series opener 5-4, rallying behind a strong start from left-hander Logan Allen. Allen (6.0 IP, 7 H, 2 ER, 4 K) earned the win and is expected to be a key factor again Saturday. Over his past four outings, Allen is 2-2 with a 2.74 ERA, including a complete-game loss to Lotte on July 3 in which he allowed two runs over seven innings.

Lotte’s Han Dong-hui was the story Friday despite the loss, going 4 for 4 with a home run and three RBIs. The designated hitter has been one of the Giants’ most consistent bats, collecting hits in nine of his last 10 games and driving in 10 runs over that span.

KT also got production Friday from second baseman Kim Sang-su (3 for 3, HR, RBI) and left fielder Sam Hilliard (2 for 3, HR, RBI).

The teams have split their season series 4-4, with the home team winning six of those eight meetings.

Interstat’s game simulator projects a 6-3 KT victory, and the ELO system gives the Wiz a 55.9% probability of winning.

KT is looking to maintain its lead in the standings. Lotte, meanwhile, is trying to build momentum and climb out of the bottom tier of the KBO.

The series continues with a Sunday afternoon finale before both teams embark on road trips. KT visits NC Dinos on Tuesday, while Lotte travels to Hanwha Eagles.
