Kia at Lotte

BUSAN, South Korea (Interstat) — The Kia Tigers visit the Lotte Giants on Wednesday evening at Busan Sajik Baseball Stadium, with first pitch set under cloudy skies and 76-degree temperatures.

Kia (44-38-2) holds a 6-3-1 lead in the season series, but Lotte (37-44) won the most recent meeting 10-2 on Tuesday. The Tigers have dropped four of their last five games, including three straight to the Giants and NC Dinos.

Lotte right-hander Elvin Rodriguez has been dominant against Kia this season. In Tuesday’s win, he allowed one earned run on three hits with nine strikeouts over seven innings. Over his last five starts, Rodriguez has posted a 1.70 ERA with 44 strikeouts in 32 innings, including wins over the Doosan Bears and NC Dinos.

Kia reliever Kim Si-hoon worked two scoreless innings Tuesday, allowing three hits with one strikeout. The Tigers bullpen has struggled recently, yielding 10 earned runs over 12 innings in the last three games.

Interstat’s game simulator projects a 5-4 Kia victory, and its ELO system gives the Tigers a 53.7% probability to win.

Lotte’s offense has been productive, scoring 10 runs Tuesday. Victor Reyes went 4-for-4 with two RBIs and catcher Son Seong-bin added three hits in four at-bats with two RBIs.

The Tigers have lost three straight and four of five, including a 5-4 defeat to NC on Saturday. Kia’s offense managed only two runs Tuesday after scoring 10 in a win over Shinsegae on June 30 and 12 against Doosan on June 28.

Lotte has won three of its last four games, including a series victory over KT Wiz before Tuesday’s win.

After Wednesday’s game, the teams meet again Thursday in Busan. Kia then travels to face Shinsegae for four games starting July 16. Lotte visits Samsung for a four-game series beginning July 16.
