Doosan at Kiwoom

SEOUL, South Korea (Interstat) — The Doosan Bears and Kiwoom Heroes meet Saturday evening at Gocheok Sky Dome in the second game of a two-game series, a clash between a team hovering at .500 and one mired near the bottom of the KBO standings.

Doosan (40-40-2) enters with momentum from its series win over Lotte, but fell in Friday’s opener 6-5 to Kiwoom. The Bears, who have alternated wins and losses over their last six games, will send left-hander Zach Logue (5-6) to the mound. Logue took the loss in Friday’s game, allowing two earned runs on five hits over five innings with three strikeouts. He is coming off his best start of the season, a 7 1/3-inning, one-earned-run effort against Kia on June 27 in which he struck out four and earned the win.

Kiwoom (29-53-2) is looking to build on its narrow victory against the Bears and snap a stretch of inconsistency. The Heroes lost three of four to LG before Friday’s win. Right-hander Ha Yeong-min (5-6) will start for Kiwoom. He was the winning pitcher Friday, allowing three earned runs on four hits over six innings with four strikeouts. Ha’s previous outing was his best of the season: a seven-inning, one-hit, one-run gem against NC on June 27 in which he fanned seven.

In Friday’s game, Doosan’s Kang Seung-ho homered and drove in three runs, while Lee Yong-chan tossed a scoreless inning in relief. For Kiwoom, relievers Won Jong-hyan and Kanakubo Yuto combined for two scoreless innings to preserve the win.

Interstat’s game simulator projects a 4-1 Doosan victory, and the Interstat ELO system gives the Bears a 61.9 percent probability of winning.

Following Saturday’s contest, Doosan returns home for a three-game set against the Shinsegae Landers starting Tuesday. Kiwoom travels to face the KT Wiz for a three-game series beginning the same day.
