KT at Doosan

PREVIEW: KT Wiz at Doosan Bears

SEOUL, South Korea (Interstat) — The KT Wiz face the Doosan Bears on Tuesday at Jamsil Stadium in an evening matchup of KBO clubs headed in opposite directions.

First-place KT (38-25-1) brings the league’s best record into the game, while Doosan (33-31-2) sits in the middle of the standings. The forecast calls for 84 degrees and clouds at first pitch.

The pitching matchup features two right-handers with recent history against each other.

KT starter Oh Won-seek is coming off a quality start Saturday against NC, allowing two earned runs on five hits over five innings with four strikeouts in an 11-9 win. However, his season has been inconsistent. In his last outing against Doosan on May 27, Oh took the loss in a 5-0 defeat, surrendering four earned runs on nine hits over four innings. He also struggled at Shinsegae Landers on June 7, giving up seven earned runs in five innings of a 7-0 loss.

Doosan counters with Gwak Been, who earned a win Sunday at Kia, allowing one earned run on four hits over six innings with seven strikeouts in an 8-1 victory. Gwak has been sharp lately despite a 1-2 record in his last three starts. His previous meeting with KT on May 28 was a contradiction: Gwak struck out nine over six innings and allowed one earned run, but the Bears lost 11-3.

The head-to-head series favors KT recently. The Wiz took two of three from Doosan in late May at Jamsil, winning 11-3 and 6-0 before dropping the finale 5-0. Overall, KT has won four of the last six meetings, though Doosan won the most recent matchup April 12 in extra innings.

KT enters on a two-game winning streak after sweeping NC over the weekend. The Wiz have won seven of their last 10 overall. Doosan split a four-game series at Kia, winning Sunday’s finale 8-1.

The Interstat game simulator projects a 6-5 KT victory. The ELO system gives KT a 52.2 percent probability to win. KT is a pregame favorite with a spread of +1.5, and the over/under is 8.5.

The teams conclude their three-game series Wednesday and Thursday. KT then hosts Kia for three games, while Doosan travels to face LG.
