SUWON, South Korea (Interstat) — The KT Wiz defeated the Samsung Lions 5-2 on Tuesday evening at Suwon Baseball Stadium.

KT improved to 35-24, while Samsung fell to 33-25-1. The Wiz outhit the Lions 8-6.

Samsung struck first in the opening inning. Koo Ja-wook singled and Kim Sung-yoon scored on the play, giving the Lions a 2-0 lead.

KT answered in the third. Kim Hyun-soo singled in a run, Sam Hilliard walked in another and Heo Kyoung-min grounded into a double play that brought home a third run, putting KT ahead 3-2.

The Wiz extended their lead in the seventh. Kim Min-hyeok singled to center, scoring Kim Hyun-soo and Choi Won-joon for a 5-2 advantage.

Samsung got one back in the eighth on a Choi Hyoung-woo single that scored Kim Ji-chan, but the rally fell short.

Ko Young-pyo earned the win for KT, and Choi Won-tae took the loss for Samsung. The teams meet again Wednesday in the second game of the series.
