Samsung at KT

SUWON, South Korea (Interstat) — The KT Wiz host the Samsung Lions on Tuesday evening at Suwon Baseball Stadium in a matchup of two teams near the top of the Korea Baseball Organization standings.

KT enters the game with a 34-24 record, while Samsung is 33-24-1. First pitch is scheduled for the evening under cloudy skies, with the temperature expected to be 72 degrees.

Samsung dropped a 7-6 decision Sunday at Kia, but left fielder Koo Ja-wook drove in four runs, going 1 for 4. Over his last 11 games, Koo has three multi-hit performances, including a 4-for-4 outing May 31 against Doosan in which he homered and drove in four. For the season, he is a key run producer in the middle of the Lions’ order.

KT was shut out 7-0 on Sunday at Shinsegae Landers, managing no runs on five hits. Reliever Lee Sang-dong threw a scoreless inning, striking out two. The right-hander has allowed no hits and no earned runs over his last two appearances, covering 2.0 innings.

The teams have split their season series. Samsung won the two most recent meetings, 8-5 on May 21 and 10-2 on May 19, both in Daegu. KT won the two prior matchups in Suwon, including a 2-0 shutout on April 5. The Lions took the series opener April 3 by a 2-1 score.

Head-to-head, Koo has been productive against KT pitching. Lee has not faced the Lions this season.

The Interstat game simulator projects a 5-3 victory for the home team.

Following Tuesday’s game, the teams meet again Wednesday and Thursday at Suwon. Samsung then returns home for a three-game series against Shinsegae Landers beginning Friday. KT hosts NC Dinos for a three-game set starting Friday.
