Kia Tigers top Hanwha Eagles 6‑4 in Daejeon
DAEJEON, South Korea (Interstat) — Hwang Dong-ha pitched six strong innings and Kim Do-young homered to lead the Kia Tigers past the Hanwha Eagles 6-4 on Tuesday evening at Daejeon Hanbat Baseball Stadium.
Hwang allowed two hits and one earned run while striking out six over six innings, improving his record after a rough outing June 3. Kim Do-young went 2 for 4 with a three-run homer in the fourth inning that broke the game open. Aderlin Rodriguez drove in Kim Do-young with a first-inning double, and Kia added two more runs in the second on a fielder’s choice and an error.
Hanwha scored its first run in the third on an Oh Jae-won groundout. In the eighth, Park Jung-hyun hit a two-run homer and Yonathan Perlaza added a solo shot, but the Eagles could not complete the comeback. Hanwha relievers combined for five scoreless innings, but the early deficit proved too large.
Attendance was 17,000. Kia improved to 33-27-1, while Hanwha fell to 30-28. The teams meet again Wednesday in the second game of the series.
