KT at Kiwoom

SEOUL (Interstat) — The first-place KT Wiz face the last-place Kiwoom Heroes on Sunday afternoon at Gocheok Sky Dome, looking to complete a three-game sweep after dominating the series’ first two contests.

KT (31-20-1) enters the 2 p.m. matchup riding a two-game winning streak and holding a commanding 65.5 percent win probability, according to Interstat’s ELO system. Interstat’s game simulator projects a 5-3 victory for the visitors.

The Wiz have outscored the Heroes 15-8 in the series, winning 7-1 on Friday and 8-7 on Saturday. In Saturday’s victory, reliever Kim Min-su, one of the players to watch for KT, threw 1 1/3 scoreless innings with two strikeouts. Kim has pitched effectively in four of his past six appearances, posting a 1.93 ERA over his last five outings. However, he has shown vulnerability against the Heroes, allowing four earned runs in one-third of an inning in a May 10 loss.

For Kiwoom (20-33-1), Park Ji-sung takes the mound as a key figure in the bullpen. Park threw 2 2/3 scoreless innings in Saturday’s loss, allowing two hits and striking out three. He has surrendered only one earned run in his past four appearances covering 5 1/3 innings.

The Heroes have lost three straight and six of their past seven. They dropped four of five games against the Wiz in May, with wins only on May 10 (5-1) and an 11-inning tie on May 9.

Following Sunday’s game, KT opens a three-game home series against the LG Twins on Tuesday. Kiwoom travels to face the Shinsegae Landers for a three-game road series starting Tuesday.
