KT at Doosan

SEOUL, South Korea (Interstat) — The KT Wiz aim to extend their dominance over the Doosan Bears when the teams meet Wednesday evening at Jamsil Stadium.

First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. under a forecast of 76 degrees with rain.

KT (28-19-1) enters in first place in the KBO, having won four of its last five. The Wiz defeated the Bears 6-0 on Tuesday behind Caleb Boushley’s seven-inning shutout. Boushley allowed three hits, struck out three and walked none.

Boushley is expected to start Wednesday. His recent performances have been inconsistent. In his last six starts, he has three wins and three losses, with a 4.11 ERA over 32⅔ innings. He delivered a quality start May 13 against Shinsegae, allowing four earned runs over seven innings in an 18-4 win, but surrendered six earned runs over six innings in a 1-8 loss to Lotte on May 6.

Doosan (22-26-1) sits sixth in the league and has lost four straight. The Bears managed just three hits Tuesday and were shut out for the third time this season.

Reliever Park Jung-soo has been a bright spot for Doosan. In his most recent appearance Tuesday, he pitched a scoreless inning with one strikeout. Over his last three outings, he has allowed one earned run over three innings.

The teams have met four times this season, with KT winning three. The Wiz took two of three April 10-12 in Suwon, including an 11-inning 8-7 victory April 10. Doosan’s only win came in that extra-inning contest.

Interstat’s game simulator projects a 4-3 KT victory, and its ELO system gives the Wiz a 53.9% probability of winning.

KT’s offense has been powered by Choi Won-jun, who hit two home runs and drove in two runs Tuesday. The Wiz have scored at least five runs in nine of their last 12 games.

Doosan’s lineup has struggled, scoring two or fewer runs in five of its last seven games.

The series continues Thursday at Jamsil before both teams travel Friday — KT to face Kiwoom and Doosan to play Samsung.
