Doosan at LG

SEOUL, South Korea (Interstat) — The LG Twins host the Doosan Bears on Wednesday evening at Jamsil Stadium, with first pitch set for 6:30 p.m. under clear skies and 65-degree temperatures.

LG (20-11-1) enters leading the KBO standings, while Doosan (14-17-1) sits in the middle of the pack, already 6 games back. Wednesday’s game marks the second meeting in a two-game set, with LG taking the opener 2-1 on Tuesday.

The pitching matchup features a rematch of that contest. Doosan right-hander Zach Logue (1-4, 4.56 ERA) gets the ball for the Bears. Logue allowed one earned run over 5.2 innings Tuesday, striking out six, but took the loss. In his previous five starts, he has shown flashes — a six-inning, four-hit shutout April 29 against Samsung, but also inconsistency, surrendering five earned runs in four innings April 23 against Lotte.

LG counters with left-hander Lachlan Wells (4-2, 2.00 ERA), who has been dominant lately. Wells earned Tuesday’s win, allowing four hits and no earned runs over five innings. In his last three starts, he has allowed one earned run over 19 innings, including a complete-game, one-hit shutout April 22 against Hanwha.

The rivals have split their season series, with LG winning three of four meetings. The Bears took a 4-3, 10-inning decision April 26 in Seoul, but the Twins have won the last two head-to-head contests, including Tuesday’s 2-1 result.

Both teams are coming off series wins. The Twins took two of three from NC Dinos over the weekend, while the Bears won two of three against Kiwoom.

Interstat’s game simulator projects a 5-4 LG victory, with the Twins holding a 68 percent win probability per the ELO system.

Doosan will look to its bullpen for support after Logue. In Tuesday’s loss, relievers Choi Jun-ho (1 IP, 1 H, 0 ER) and Lee Byeong-heon (0.1 IP, 0 H, 0 ER) combined to keep the game close. LG’s Woo Kang-hoon and Kim Jin-sung each pitched a scoreless inning in relief Tuesday.

The Bears continue their road trip Thursday with another game at LG, then return home for a three-game set against Shinsegae. The Twins host the Bears again Thursday before traveling to Hanwha for a weekend series.
