Preview: Hanwha Eagles at LG Twins

SEOUL (Interstat) — The LG Twins look to continue their strong start and secure a series win when they host the struggling Hanwha Eagles on Wednesday evening at Jamsil Stadium.

The first-place Twins (13-6) edged the Eagles 6-5 on Tuesday and hold a significant edge in the standings over Hanwha (8-11). LG has won four of its last five games.

A key matchup will feature LG right-hander Song Seung-ki, who earned the win Tuesday with five innings of one-run ball, against a Hanwha lineup seeking consistency. Song is 4-0 this season, having allowed two earned runs or fewer in each of his four starts.

For the Eagles, reliever John Cushing is a player to watch. He pitched 1 1/3 scoreless innings against LG on Tuesday and has not allowed an earned run in his last three appearances, spanning three innings. Hanwha will need its bullpen to stifle an LG offense that has averaged 5.2 runs per game during its current 6-2 stretch.

The Eagles have lost five of their last seven, though they took two games in a weekend series at Lotte. They have struggled in close games, with Tuesday’s loss marking their fourth one-run defeat of the season.

According to Interstat, the Twins are projected favorites with a 63.3% probability to win. Their game simulator predicts a 6-3 LG victory.

First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. local time under cloudy skies with a game-time temperature near 57 degrees Fahrenheit (14 Celsius).

The teams conclude their three-game series Thursday at Jamsil Stadium.
