Kia at Doosan
SEOUL, South Korea (Interstat) — The Kia Tigers will look to extend their winning streak and continue their recent dominance over the struggling Doosan Bears when the rivals meet again Saturday at Jamsil Stadium.
First pitch for the afternoon contest is scheduled for 5 p.m. local time under cloudy skies with a temperature near 68 degrees Fahrenheit (20 Celsius).
The Tigers (10-7) have won three straight and seven of their last 10, including a 7-3 victory over the Bears in the series opener Friday night. The Bears (5-11) have lost four of their last five and sit near the bottom of the Korea Baseball Organization standings.
A player to watch for Kia is left-hander Lee Eui-lee, who earned the win in Friday’s game with five scoreless innings and eight strikeouts. Over his last two appearances, however, he has been inconsistent, allowing seven earned runs across just 6 2/3 innings in losses to the NC Dinos and Shinsegae Landers.
Doosan will counter with American right-hander Zach Logue, who took the loss Friday after surrendering five earned runs on eight hits over seven innings. Prior to that, Logue had been solid, posting a 2.12 ERA over his previous three starts, including a six-inning, four-hit shutout performance against the Hanwha Eagles on April 5.
The Tigers’ offense has been potent during their streak, scoring five or more runs in eight of their last ten games. The Bears’ lineup has struggled for consistency, scoring three runs or fewer in eight games this season.
According to Interstat, the Tigers are projected favorites with a 54.20% probability to win. Their game simulator predicts a repeat of Friday’s 7-3 scoreline in favor of Kia.
Following Saturday’s game, the two teams will conclude the series Sunday at Jamsil before Kia travels to face the KT Wiz and Doosan visits the Lotte Giants.
