Samsung at Hanwha
DAEJEON, South Korea (Interstat) — The Samsung Lions look to continue their strong early-season form when they visit the Hanwha Eagles for a Wednesday evening matchup at Daejeon Hanbat Baseball Stadium.
First pitch on April 15 is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. local time under cloudy skies with a game-time temperature near 70 degrees Fahrenheit (21 degrees Celsius).
The Lions (9-4-1) enter with the better record and momentum, having edged the Eagles 6-5 on Tuesday. Samsung has won seven of its last nine games. The Eagles (6-8) have lost four of their last five, including three straight one-run decisions.
A key rematch unfolds on the mound. Hanwha’s Moon Dong-ju, who delivered five scoreless innings with six strikeouts in Tuesday’s hard-luck loss, is expected to start. He will face a Samsung lineup that has averaged 6.2 runs per game over its last 10 contests.
For the Lions, reliever Kim Jae-yoon is a player to watch. He earned the win Tuesday with a perfect inning and two strikeouts, continuing a dominant stretch. Over his last six appearances, Kim has pitched 6.0 innings, allowing just one earned run while recording five strikeouts.
Interstat’s game simulator projects a 7-3 victory for Samsung. The analytics firm’s ELO rating system gives the Lions a 51.2% probability to win.
Following Wednesday’s game, the teams conclude their series in Daejeon on Thursday. Samsung then returns home to Daegu for a three-game set against the LG Twins starting Friday. Hanwha hits the road for a three-game series against the Lotte Giants in Busan beginning Friday.
