Lotte at LG
SEOUL, South Korea (Interstat) — The first-place LG Twins host the struggling Lotte Giants on Tuesday evening at Jamsil Stadium, opening a three-game series that pits one of the KBO’s hottest teams against one searching for consistency.
First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. local time under cloudy skies with a game-time temperature of 76 degrees Fahrenheit (24 Celsius).
The Twins (9-4) enter riding a four-game winning streak, having outscored opponents 27-8 over that stretch. They boast the league’s best record and are coming off a dominant 9-1 victory over the Shinsegae Landers on Sunday.
Conversely, the Giants (5-8) have lost three of their last four and are coming off a 2-0 shutout loss to the Kiwoom Heroes. Lotte has been held to three or fewer runs in seven of its 13 games this season.
The pitching matchup features two right-handers on different trajectories. LG will start Anders Tolhurst (2-1, 4.50 ERA), who is coming off his best outing of the young season. On April 12, he threw six scoreless innings, allowing just four hits and striking out four in a win over the Landers. His season began roughly with a seven-run allowance in three innings on March 31, but he has rebounded with two strong performances.
He will be opposed by Lotte’s Park Se-woong (0-3, 3.38 ERA). Despite an impressive individual ERA, Park has been plagued by a lack of run support. In his last start on April 12, he took a hard-luck 2-0 loss after pitching six innings with eight strikeouts. He has received a total of just five runs of support across his three starts.
According to Interstat, the Twins are heavy favorites with a 70.5% probability to win. Their game simulator projects a 7-2 victory for LG.
The series continues Wednesday and Thursday at Jamsil before both clubs embark on new weekend opponents. LG will travel to face the Samsung Lions, while Lotte returns home to host the Hanwha Eagles.
