Doosan at KT
SUWON, South Korea (Interstat) — The KT Wiz look to secure a series win and continue their strong early-season form when they host the struggling Doosan Bears in the finale of a three-game set Sunday evening at Suwon Baseball Stadium.
First pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m. local time under cloudy skies with a temperature near 59 degrees Fahrenheit (15 Celsius).
The Wiz (8-4-1) evened the series with a 6-4 victory Saturday night and hold a commanding advantage in the standings over the Bears (4-7-1). Interstat’s ELO system projects KT with a 62.3% probability to win, and its game simulator predicts a 6-3 final score. However, oddsmakers have installed Doosan as a slight pregame favorite with a spread of -1.5. The over/under is set at 10.5 runs.
The pitching matchup features a quick rematch of Saturday’s starters. Doosan will send left-hander Zach Logue back to the mound on short rest after he took the loss in the previous game. Logue allowed three earned runs on nine hits over six innings in that outing. He has been a bright spot for Doosan, posting a 2.12 ERA over his last three starts, including a six-inning, four-hit shutout performance against Hanwha on April 5.
KT counters with right-hander So Hyeong-jun, who earned the win Saturday with a dominant seven-inning effort, holding the Bears to two runs on four hits while striking out seven. His recent outings have been inconsistent, however, highlighted by a rough start against Samsung on April 4 where he surrendered six earned runs.
The teams have split the first two games of the series, with Doosan winning 8-7 in 11 innings on Friday before KT’s response Saturday. The Wiz bullpen, anchored by Park Yeong-hyun, has been effective, while Doosan’s offense has struggled for consistency outside of their 11-run outburst Friday.
Following the game, KT begins a road series at the NC Dinos on Tuesday. Doosan travels to face the Shinsegae Landers to start next week.
