NC at Samsung
DAEGU, South Korea (Interstat) — The Samsung Lions will look to complete a three-game sweep of the NC Dinos when the KBO League rivals conclude their series Sunday evening at Daegu Samsung Lions Park.
First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. local time under clear skies with a game-time temperature of 69 degrees Fahrenheit (21 Celsius).
The Lions (7-4-1) have taken the first two games of the set, winning 8-5 on Friday and 5-4 on Saturday, to solidify their position near the top of the early-season standings. The Dinos (6-6) have lost five straight, including the first two games here and three prior to the series against the LG Twins.
A key matchup will feature NC catcher Kim Hyung-jun, who is 5 for 7 with two RBIs in the series, against a stout Samsung bullpen anchored by Baek Jung-hyun. Kim went a perfect 4 for 4 with two RBIs in Saturday’s narrow loss. Baek earned the win in that game with two scoreless innings of relief and has not allowed an earned run in his last five appearances, spanning 5 2/3 innings.
Both teams’ recent trends favor the hosts. Samsung is 5-1-1 in its last seven games, while NC has been outscored 22-9 during its five-game skid after a 6-1 start.
According to Interstat, the Lions are projected favorites with a 57.8% probability to win. The service’s game simulator predicts a final score of Samsung 5, NC 4.
Following the game, the Dinos return home to Changwon to begin a three-game series against the KT Wiz on Tuesday. The Lions will hit the road for a three-game set against the Hanwha Eagles in Daejeon, also starting Tuesday.
