Lotte at Kiwoom

SEOUL, South Korea (Interstat) — The Lotte Giants will look to complete a series sweep and extend their winning streak to three when they face the Kiwoom Heroes in a Sunday afternoon matchup at Gocheok Sky Dome.

First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m. local time. The Giants (5-7) have taken the first two games of this weekend series by identical 3-1 scores, including a 10-inning victory on Saturday.

Sunday’s game features a compelling pitching rematch from just two days prior. Lotte’s Jeremy Beasley (2-1, 3.86 ERA) gets the nod after earning the win on Friday, allowing one earned run on five hits with seven strikeouts over six strong innings. He has been excellent in two of his last three starts, including a five-inning, two-hit shutout performance against Samsung on March 29.

He will be opposed by Kiwoom’s Nathan Wiles (0-3, 2.57 ERA), who was the hard-luck loser in Friday’s contest. Wiles pitched seven scoreless innings, surrendering five hits and striking out six, but received no run support. The Heroes (3-9) have lost all three of his starts this season despite his solid overall numbers.

The Heroes’ offense has struggled mightily, scoring only two total runs in the series. They will need to break through against Beasley to avoid the sweep and snap a three-game skid. Kiwoom’s bullpen, which allowed three late runs in the 10th inning Saturday, will also be under scrutiny.

According to Interstat, the Giants are projected favorites with a 56.2% probability to win. Their game simulator predicts a 3-2 Lotte victory.

Following the game, Lotte travels to face the LG Twins for a three-game series beginning Tuesday. Kiwoom hits the road for a six-game trip, starting with a three-game set against the Kia Tigers on Tuesday.
