Kia at Hanwha
Preview: Kia Tigers at Hanwha Eagles
DAEJEON, South Korea (Interstat) — The Hanwha Eagles will look to halt a two-game skid and even their series with the Kia Tigers when the teams meet Sunday afternoon at Daejeon Hanbat Baseball Stadium.
First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m. local time under cloudy skies with a temperature near 65 degrees Fahrenheit (18 Celsius).
The Eagles (6-6) have dropped the first two games of this series by identical 6-5 scores, including a defeat Saturday. Hanwha starter Wang Yan-Cheng delivered a quality start in that loss, allowing one earned run over six innings with five strikeouts. Over his last three outings, the right-hander has posted a 2.16 ERA with 14 strikeouts in 17.2 innings, earning wins in his two previous starts.
The Tigers (5-7) have won three of their last four, with reliever Hwang Dong-ha playing a key role in Saturday’s victory. Hwang pitched three scoreless innings of relief, allowing two hits and striking out two. His recent performances have been volatile, however, highlighted by a outing on March 29 where he surrendered six earned runs in just 1.1 innings.
Both clubs enter the finale with .500 records within their last 10 games. According to Interstat, Hanwha is the pregame favorite with a 56.6% probability to win. Their game simulator projects a 4-3 Eagles victory. The over/under is set at 9.5 runs.
Following Sunday’s game, Hanwha will host the Samsung Lions for a three-game series starting Tuesday. Kia returns home to Gwangju to begin a three-game set against the Kiwoom Heroes on Tuesday.
