Doosan at KT
SUWON, South Korea (Interstat) — The KT Wiz look to rebound from a crushing extra-inning loss when they host the Doosan Bears in the second game of their weekend series Saturday afternoon at Suwon Baseball Stadium.
First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m. local time under cloudy skies with temperatures around 53 degrees Fahrenheit (12 Celsius).
The Wiz (7-4-1) saw a late lead slip away in an 8-7, 11-inning defeat to the Bears (4-6-1) on Friday night. Doosan’s rally spoiled a dominant outing from KT starter Matthew Sauer, who took a no-decision after allowing four runs over six innings.
Sauer (0-2, 5.40 ERA) will take the mound again for KT, seeking his first win. He has faced the Bears once already this season in that Friday loss.
Doosan will counter with right-hander Gwak Been (2-1, 5.28 ERA), who was brilliant in relief just yesterday. Gwak pitched six scoreless innings of one-hit ball with nine strikeouts against KT, earning the win in the marathon contest. It’s unclear if his 85-pitch effort will affect his availability or role for Saturday.
The Wiz, installed as pregame favorites, hold a superior record and are projected by Interstat’s game simulator to win 7-2. The ELO system gives KT a 61.7% probability of victory. The over/under is set at 9.5 runs.
Following Saturday’s contest, the teams will conclude their three-game series on Sunday before both embark on extended road trips next week.
