Lotte at Kiwoom
SEOUL, South Korea (Interstat) — Two teams seeking momentum will meet Saturday when the Lotte Giants visit the Kiwoom Heroes at Gocheok Sky Dome for an afternoon contest.
The Giants (4-7) evened their series with a 3-1 victory Friday night behind a dominant pitching performance. The Heroes (3-8), meanwhile, continue to search for consistency in the early KBO season.
A marquee pitching rematch is set, with right-handers Elvin Rodríguez of Lotte and Raul Alcántara of Kiwoom taking the mound just one day after facing each other in relief roles. Rodríguez earned the win Friday with a stellar 8-inning, 11-strikeout start. His season, however, has been volatile, including a 2-17 loss to the Shinsegae Landers on April 3 where he allowed eight earned runs.
Alcántara was the hard-luck loser Friday, striking out 11 but surrendering 10 hits and three runs over six innings. He previously earned a win against the LG Twins on April 3, allowing just one run over 6 1/3 innings.
Both clubs have struggled to string wins together. Lotte’s victory Friday snapped a two-game skid, while Kiwoom has lost four of its last five.
According to Interstat, the Giants enter as slight favorites with a 55.6% probability to win. The service’s game simulator projects a 3-2 Lotte victory.
The series concludes Sunday at Gocheok Sky Dome before both teams embark on road trips. Lotte travels to face the LG Twins, while Kiwoom heads to face the Kia Tigers.
