INCHEON, South Korea (Interstat) — Ryu Hyun-jin struck out 10 over six strong innings as the Hanwha Eagles defeated the first-place Shinsegae Landers 6-2 on Tuesday evening at Munhak Baseball Stadium.

The Eagles ambushed Shinsegae starter Takeda Shota for six runs in the first inning, highlighted by Moon Hyun-bin’s two-run single. The Landers’ only offense came on Choi Jeong’s two-run homer in the bottom of the first off Ryu. The veteran left-hander allowed just four hits and those two earned runs to earn his first win.

Hanwha’s bullpen trio of Kim Seo-hyeon, Park Sang-won and Jeong Woo-joo each pitched a perfect inning of relief to seal the win. Shinsegae’s relievers combined for 6 1/3 scoreless frames after the rocky start. Hanwha improved to 5-4, while Shinsegae fell to 7-2.
