Hanwha at Shinsegae

Preview: Hanwha Eagles at Shinsegae Landers

INCHEON, South Korea (Interstat) — The surging Shinsegae Landers, owners of the league’s best record, host the .500 Hanwha Eagles on Tuesday evening at Munhak Baseball Stadium in the opener of a three-game series.

First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. under clear skies with temperatures around 52 degrees.

The Landers (7-1) enter riding a three-game winning streak, including a 4-3 victory at Lotte on Sunday. Their bullpen has been a key strength, with reliever Jo Byeong-hyeon emerging as a pivotal arm. Jo has not allowed a run in four appearances this season, pitching a scoreless inning in each of the last two games against Lotte.

Conversely, the Eagles (4-4) are looking to rebound from a shutout loss, falling 8-0 at Doosan on Sunday. A bright spot in that defeat was starter Hwang Jun-seo, who struck out seven over 4 1/3 innings while allowing two earned runs. He is expected to be a central figure for Hanwha.

Shinsegae’s offense has been potent, scoring 17 runs in a game last week, while Hanwha’s season has been marked by volatility, with games featuring high scores on both sides.

According to Interstat, the Landers are projected as slight favorites with a 53.2% probability to win. Their game simulator predicts a 7-4 Shinsegae victory. Hanwha is listed as a +1.5 underdog on the spread, with the over/under set at 9.5 runs.

The series continues Wednesday and Thursday in Incheon before both clubs embark on new weekend opponents.
