Doosan at Samsung

DAEGU, South Korea (Interstat) — The Samsung Lions and Doosan Bears, locked in an early-season stalemate with identical 1-2-1 records, conclude a three-game series under the lights and likely the rain Thursday at Daegu Samsung Lions Park.

Forecasted temperatures near 57 degrees Fahrenheit and wet conditions could factor into the 6:30 p.m. matchup, the rubber game of the set. The series is tied after a Samsung rout and an extra-inning tie. The Lions dominated Wednesday 13-3, following an 11-inning 5-5 draw on Tuesday.

Samsung’s offense, led by hot-hitting center fielder Kim Seong-yoon, will look to continue its momentum. Kim drove in four runs on a 4-for-5 night in Wednesday’s win and is 6 for 13 with five RBIs in the first two games of this series.

For Doosan, reliever Park Chi-guk is a player to watch. He provided a scoreless inning of relief in Wednesday’s loss and has not allowed an earned run in his two appearances this season, spanning 1 1/3 innings.

Both clubs seek consistency after sluggish starts. According to Interstat, the Lions are projected favorites with a 61% win probability. The outlet’s game simulator predicts a narrow 5-4 victory for Samsung.

After Thursday, the Bears return to Seoul for a six-game homestand, beginning Friday against the Hanwha Eagles. The Lions hit the road for a three-game weekend series against the KT Wiz in Suwon.
