LG Twins Rally Past Kia Tigers With Big First Inning, Earn First Win of Season
SEOUL, South Korea (Interstat) — The LG Twins erupted for three runs in the first inning Wednesday night and never trailed, defeating the Kia Tigers 7-2 at Jamsil Stadium to even both teams’ records at 1-3.
A crowd of 23,750 saw the home Twins immediately answer Kia’s early run by sending nine batters to the plate in the bottom of the first. Key plays included a bases-loaded walk by Moon Sung-ju and a run-scoring bunt single by Oh Ji-hwan.
Kia’s Oh Sun-woo homered in the fifth to cut the deficit to one, but LG added insurance with a sacrifice fly in the sixth and three more runs in the eighth, capped by Park Dong-won’s two-run double.
LG’s bullpen combined for four scoreless innings to secure the win. Kia managed seven hits but left nine runners on base. The teams conclude their series Thursday.
