Texas vs. Santa Cruz

BONNY DOON, Calif. (Interstat) — Two teams looking to build momentum near the end of the G League regular season will meet Saturday when the Texas Legends visit the Santa Cruz Warriors at Kaiser Permanente Arena.

The game is the second of a back-to-back set after the teams opened a two-game series Friday night. Both clubs enter the weekend series with sub-.500 records. Texas is 19-29 across all competitions, while Santa Cruz sits at 15-33.

A key matchup will feature Texas center Moussa Cisse against Santa Cruz’s backcourt, led by Chance McMillian. Cisse has been a dominant force on the glass, recording a double-double in five consecutive games. Over that stretch, he averaged 15.0 points and 14.2 rebounds, including an 18-rebound performance in a win over San Diego on March 14.

For the Warriors, guard Chance McMillian has been a primary offensive engine, scoring 20 or more points in three of his last five outings. He is coming off a 20-point, six-rebound, six-assist performance in a loss at Salt Lake City on Tuesday. McMillian also notched a triple-double with 23 points, seven rebounds and 10 assists in a win over Rio Grande Valley on March 21.

Texas arrives having won three of its last four games, including a 109-106 victory over Iowa on March 22. In that win, Dalano Banton led the Legends with 29 points, while Cisse added 17 points and 12 rebounds.

Santa Cruz has struggled recently, losing seven of its last nine games. Their defense has been a particular concern, allowing 130 or more points in four of those contests. In their most recent game, the 131-119 loss to Salt Lake City, McMillian, Marques Bolden (20 points) and Taevion Kinsey (22 points) provided scoring but the team could not keep pace.

Saturday’s contest will be a test of Texas’s interior strength against Santa Cruz’s perimeter attack as both teams seek to finish their season series on a positive note.
