Windy City vs. Westchester

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. (Interstat) — In a high-scoring affair that came down to the final possession, the Westchester Knicks edged the Windy City Bulls 123-121 in a G League game Saturday afternoon at Westchester County Center.

The game featured 18 lead changes and neither team led by more than nine points, with the outcome uncertain until the final second. The Knicks improved to 15-33 on the season, while the Bulls fell to 22-28.

Westchester built an early advantage with a 36-point first quarter, but Windy City responded with a strong third quarter, outscoring the Knicks 34-26 to tighten the contest. The fourth quarter saw seven lead changes as both teams traded baskets in a frantic finish.

The most critical sequence occurred in the final 12 seconds. With Westchester leading 122-121, Windy City’s Mouhamadou Gueye drove for a potential go-ahead layup, but his attempt was blocked by Knicks center Ariel Hukporti. Westchester’s T.J. Warren secured the defensive rebound and was immediately fouled.

Warren missed the first free throw but made the second, extending the Knicks’ lead to 123-121 with 12 seconds remaining. Following a Windy City timeout, the Bulls inbounded and worked the ball to Gueye for a potential game-winning three-pointer, but his 28-foot pull-up jump shot as time expired missed the mark, sealing the victory for Westchester.

The game was an offensive showcase, with both teams shooting efficiently from the floor. Westchester’s victory was powered by balanced scoring and key defensive stops late. Hukporti was a force in the paint for the Knicks, contributing multiple blocks and altering several other shots, including the crucial late-game denial on Gueye.

For Windy City, Keyshawn Bryant provided consistent scoring throughout the contest, attacking the rim and hitting from the perimeter to keep the Bulls within striking distance. Giorgi Bezhanishvili also anchored the Bulls’ interior play with timely scoring and rebounding.

The Knicks’ win defied the statistical pregame projection from Interstat’s ELO system, which had favored Westchester with a 71.4 percent probability to win. The victory also allowed Westchester to sweep the two-game season series, having previously defeated Windy City 114-104 on Jan. 23.

The contest was characteristic of both teams’ seasons, featuring potent offenses and close margins. Windy City has now lost four consecutive games, all by narrow margins, while Westchester snapped a brief two-game skid.
