Windy City vs. Westchester
Preview: Windy City Bulls at Westchester Knicks
WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. (Interstat) — Two G League teams heading in opposite directions will meet Saturday when the Windy City Bulls visit the Westchester Knicks at Westchester County Center.
The Bulls (22-27) arrive having lost five of their last six, including a heartbreaking 134-133 defeat at Birmingham on Tuesday. Despite the losses, guard Mac McClung has been on a historic scoring tear. Over his last 10 games, the high-flying guard is averaging 38.1 points and 9.0 assists, including a 59-point, 10-assist performance in the recent Birmingham loss. His offensive explosion has been a constant for a Windy City team struggling to get stops.
Westchester (14-33), despite owning the league’s worst record, has shown recent life, winning two of its last three games. The Knicks are coming off a 114-104 road win at Long Island on Tuesday, powered by a dominant performance from center Ariel Hukporti. The big man posted 32 points, 10 rebounds and four blocks in that victory, showcasing the interior presence that will challenge Windy City.
The season series currently favors Westchester, which defeated Windy City 114-104 at home on Jan. 23.
Saturday’s matchup will hinge on whether Westchester can contain McClung’s electrifying offensive output and if Hukporti can control the paint against Windy City’s Giorgi Bezhanishvili, who is averaging a near double-double. For the Bulls, finding secondary scoring beyond McClung and improving team defense are urgent priorities after allowing an average of 136.8 points over their last five losses.
The game tips off at 7 p.m. EDT Saturday.
