Rip City vs. Austin
LEANDER, Texas (Interstat) — A surging Austin Spurs squad will look to solidify its top-tier standing when it hosts the visiting Rip City Remix in a G League Western Conference matchup Friday night at H-E-B Center at Cedar Park.
The Spurs (33-14), owners of the league’s second-best record, enter on a two-game win streak after sweeping a road set against the Noblesville Mad Ants last weekend. Guard Adam Flagler powered the most recent 117-97 victory with 29 points, eight assists and four rebounds. Over his last 10 games, Flagler is averaging 16.0 points and 5.7 assists, providing steady backcourt leadership for the San Antonio Spurs’ affiliate.
They face a Rip City Remix team (26-22) fighting to climb the playoff picture. The Remix have split their last six games but are coming off a 115-107 home win over Raptors 905 on Saturday. Shooting guard Javonte Cooke, a primary offensive engine, dropped 26 points in that contest. He has been on a scoring tear, averaging 21.6 points over his last eight appearances, including four games of 24 or more points.
This marks the second meeting in three days between the teams. On Wednesday, Rip City edged Austin 5-4 in a game where details were not immediately available. The quick rematch adds a layer of urgency for the home side.
Austin’s balance will be tested by Rip City’s offensive firepower. Beyond Cooke, recent contributions have come from Chris Youngblood, who scored 25 points Saturday, and center Yang Hansen, who posted a 14-point, 11-rebound double-double.
The Spurs counter with depth, as seen in Sunday’s win where Harrison Ingram notched a 15-point, 12-rebound double-double and Stanley Umude added 20 points.
Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m. CDT. The Spurs will turn around to host Mexico City on Saturday, while the Remix continue a Texas road swing.
