Osceola vs. Motor City
WALKER, Mich. (Interstat) — Two of the G League’s hottest teams and most dominant big men will collide Friday when the Osceola Magic visit the Motor City Cruise at DeltaPlex Arena.
The Magic (32-15) enter on a roll, having won seven of their last eight games, including a 124-107 victory over Delaware on March 21. Their success is anchored by center Colin Castleton, who is averaging a double-double and coming off a 27-point, 15-rebound performance in that win. Over his last 10 games, Castleton has posted six double-doubles, showcasing consistent interior dominance.
They will face a surging Cruise (26-21) squad that has won five straight, most recently a 143-132 shootout over Greensboro on March 25. Motor City’s engine is forward Isaac Jones, who is playing at an extraordinary level. In his last three games alone, Jones averaged 31.7 points, 11.7 rebounds, 5.7 assists and 4.3 blocks, including a 33-point, 11-rebound, 6-assist outing in the win over Greensboro.
The matchup in the paint between Castleton and Jones will be central to the outcome. Both teams have been high-scoring of late, with Osceola averaging 121.1 points over its last 10 games and Motor City putting up 130.8 points during its five-game win streak. The Cruise, however, have shown a recent propensity for tight finishes, with three of their last five wins decided by five points or fewer.
Osceola holds a significant edge in the overall standings, but Motor City’s explosive home offense — they have scored at least 129 points in four consecutive games — presents a formidable challenge. The teams will meet again at the same venue Saturday night, making this weekend a critical two-game set for postseason positioning.
Friday’s contest tips off at 7 p.m. EDT.
