Delaware vs. Long Island
Preview: Blue Coats at Nets, G League Showdown Set for Long Island
UNIONDALE, N.Y. (Interstat) — The Delaware Blue Coats visit the Long Island Nets in a G League matchup Wednesday night at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum, with the hosts looking to continue their recent dominance in the series.
Long Island (25-21) holds a clear advantage in the standings and has won all three meetings against Delaware (19-27) this season, including a 123-107 victory on Feb. 12 and a 137-135 overtime thriller on Dec. 6.
The Blue Coats enter on a five-game skid, most recently falling 124-107 at Osceola on Saturday. Their offense, however, runs through high-scoring forward Teddy Allen, who is in the midst of a torrid individual stretch. Allen poured in 46 points with eight rebounds in that loss, marking his fourth game of 28 or more points in his last eight appearances. Over his last 10 games, Allen is averaging 25.2 points.
Delaware’s recent struggles contrast with a 141-124 road win at Cleveland on March 18, where Allen had 26 points and eight rebounds. Consistency has been an issue for a team that has allowed 124 points or more in seven of its last 10 contests.
Long Island aims to bounce back from a 127-120 overtime road loss to Capital City on Sunday. Guard Hunter Cattoor led the Nets in that game with 21 points, six rebounds and four assists. His role has expanded recently, averaging 31.2 minutes and 16.3 points over his last three outings.
The Nets have been stronger at home this season and will rely on a balanced attack that recently saw David Muoka post 20 points and nine blocks, and Terry Roberts add 15 points and nine assists in the overtime loss.
Wednesday’s game represents a critical opportunity for Delaware to snap its losing streak and gain ground, while Long Island looks to solidify its playoff positioning and complete a season-series sweep. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. EDT.
Delaware’s next action is a two-game home set against Capital City starting Friday. Long Island travels to Cleveland for its next game on Saturday.
