Greensboro vs. Motor City
Preview: Greensboro Swarm at Motor City Cruise
WALKER, Mich. (Interstat) — The surging Motor City Cruise will look to continue their recent dominance over the league-leading Greensboro Swarm when the G League teams meet Wednesday at DeltaPlex Arena.
The Cruise (25-21) have won five of their last six games, a stretch highlighted by a 133-118 road victory over the Swarm on March 7. Motor City center Isaac Jones dominated that contest, posting 34 points, 15 rebounds, five assists and three blocks. He enters Wednesday’s game in spectacular form, averaging 28.7 points, 11.7 rebounds and 4.3 blocks over his last three outings. His performance in a 113-108 win at Wisconsin on March 21 included 28 points, 12 rebounds and six blocks.
The Greensboro Swarm (33-14), despite holding the league’s best record, have lost three of their last four and will seek both revenge and stability. They are coming off a 141-131 shootout loss at Westchester on Sunday. Rookie wing Liam McNeeley was brilliant in defeat, scoring 33 points in 37 minutes. McNeeley, a key player to watch, has averaged 22.1 points over his last seven games but was held to just five points in 12 minutes in the March 7 loss to Motor City.
Greensboro’s offense, which averages over 124 points per game, will test a Motor City defense that has found its rhythm. The Cruise have held opponents to an average of 112.5 points during their current hot streak, well below their season average allowed.
The matchup inside between Motor City’s Jones and Greensboro’s frontcourt will be critical. The Swarm will counter with scoring depth, as evidenced by Antonio Reeves’ 30-point effort alongside McNeeley last game.
Following this contest, both teams turn their attention to weekend home series. Greensboro hosts College Park for two games starting Friday, while Motor City prepares for a two-game set against Osceola.
Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. EDT Wednesday at DeltaPlex Arena.
