College Park vs. Wisconsin

Preview: College Park Skyhawks at Wisconsin Herd

OSHKOSH, Wis. (Interstat) — Two teams at the bottom of the G League standings seeking momentum meet Monday when the College Park Skyhawks visit the Wisconsin Herd at Oshkosh Arena.

The Skyhawks (16-29) arrive with a surge of confidence, having won four of their last five games, including a dominant 129-98 road victory over Westchester on Saturday. Their recent success has been fueled by forward Kobe Johnson, who is averaging 20.0 points and 7.2 rebounds over his last five contests. Johnson posted a double-double with 26 points and 11 rebounds in Thursday’s win over Westchester.

Conversely, the Herd (13-33) has struggled, losing five of its last six. Wisconsin is coming off a 123-105 home loss to Motor City on Friday. Guard Stevie Thompson has been a bright spot, nearly averaging a triple-double in recent outings. Over his last six games, Thompson has put up 19.5 points, 8.0 rebounds and 7.0 assists per contest, including a triple-double of 14 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists against Mexico City on March 7.

The season series currently favors Wisconsin, which handily defeated College Park 116-98 in Oshkosh back on Jan. 5.

Monday’s matchup pits College Park’s improving offense, which has topped 127 points in three of its last four wins, against a Wisconsin defense that has allowed an average of 116.8 points during its 1-5 skid. The Herd will need a strong performance from Thompson and supporting players like Alex Antetokounmpo and Kira Lewis, who combined for 34 points in Friday’s loss, to slow the Skyhawks’ attack.

For College Park, maintaining its recent offensive efficiency and containing Thompson’s all-around game will be key to extending its positive run before returning home to face Osceola on Wednesday. Wisconsin looks to halt its slide before a two-game road trip to Raptors 905 later in the week.

Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. CDT Monday at Oshkosh Arena.
